Configuration Management and Build Verification using Feature Based Programming ExamplesPush-Nut FeatureIn this simple example a feature called “PUSH-NUT” was developed.
Message FeatureIn this example, a “MESSAGE” feature was taught to find the word “PILOT” in the designated search area.
Edge Development FeatureThis example uses an edge deviation “EDGE-DEV” feature to check for deviation along a taught edge (curved or straight). This feature can be used to detect flashing or lack of material.
The system provides a base set of reference features including: edges, holes, and corners that are used to establish image datum points. These points are used to relocate feature search areas in order to compensate for part movement/repeatability. A base set of measurement features also exist. The feature based platform application was developed in conjunction with Decision Technology's multi-camera application shell. This PC based application provides a means of operation over a wide range of cameras and platforms. A typical PC (industrial or commercial) based system can easily handle multiple cameras. Current systems in production incorporate as many as 12 cameras and upwards of 160 feature instances per part. Camera compatibility includes:
Having this baseline application provides a proven starting point thus significantly reducing the development cost of new project applications. The resulting benefits to our customers include:
